We just finished our 7th annual MEGA Sports Camp event for children ages preschool to twelve. It was such a blessing to see such a large group of kids dancing, praising God, having fun, learning new skills, playing games and making new friends. We are truly grateful for the love, dedication, flexibility, energy, and hard work put forth this week from our 50 volunteers. Everyone came together as a team to bless the kids in our community and their families.
Throughout the week we had 125 kids. They were able to choose from baseball, archery, karate, basketball, cheerleading and soccer. We also had “rally time” where the kids learned about different Bible stories. The verse we focused on this week is from 1 Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”
On the first night we discussed how important it is to prepare for your future by doing your best today. That’s what God wants for our lives. On the second night, kids learned how they need to focus on their goals and the Lord and not let anything distract them from either one. On the third night, we discussed how encouragement can have a life changing effect on others, and that God can use them to encourage those in their life. On the fourth night, we spoke about change. When we invite Jesus into our hearts, he changes us. And lastly, we talked about how great of an influence we can have for God’s kingdom; that they should always use their influence to help others do wise and good things. It was certainly a blessed week. We hope you will join us next summer.
